New Pokemon: Let’s Go trailers reveal Team Rocket and Legendary Birds

Unknown     July 21, 2018     No comments

The newest trailers for the upcoming Pokemon: Let's Go for the Nintendo Switch revealed a bunch of new details. The latest Pokemon games, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, are not the highly anticipated 8th generation RPG. These games are instead a more casual and simpler take on Pokemon, drawing elements from Pokemon Go on mobile. Last Friday's trailers revealed some exciting new details.
The first trailer comes from YouTube user GameXplain and looks to have aired in Japan. With a heavy focus on the action, keen viewers can spot some familiar faces. Both Jesse and James of Team Rocket from the anime series appear. This trailer also confirms the legendary birds, as viewers can see the player battling Zapdos and Moltres. This coincides with the announcement of Zapdos Day for Pokemon Go. On July 21 mobile players can participate in a raid to unlock a shiny Zapdos.

The second trailer from Japan shows off some new mechanics, locations and most importantly, the Kanto region map. All the locations shown off highlight the impressive graphics of the Switch. Most notable is the lighting and shader effects of a forest section, with light shafts cutting through the gaps in foliage.
The biggest reveal in this trailer was the new Pokemon gyms. While only two were shown off, they were the most important two. Both Brock's gym in Pewter City and Misty's gym in Cerulean City boast impressive interiors and their own individual gym mechanics, like in the original RPGs. The Kanto region map shown at the start of the trailer is both familiar and unique. While the Kanto region hasn't changed, the map details the individual places various Pokemon can be found.

The final trailer is the Explore The World trailer and was released in the West. It shows off some story details and some new mechanics. When originally revealed, Nintendo stated this game would borrow more from the anime than the original Red and Blue. This is certainly the case as Professor Oak, your rival, Misty and Brock all appear more like in the anime than the original games.
One of the mechanics displayed is the ways the player can interact with their Eevee or Pikachu. With customisation options like hairstyles and bonding mechanics like petting, this game feels more like a remake of Pokemon Yellow than Red or Blue. The trailer also displays Pokemon riding, such as on a Charizard and Onix, treasure hunting, seen where a Nidoran discovers a hidden item, and character customisations, like different outfits. This trailer also details many of the multiplayer aspects, such as Co-op, trading and battling.
